Hey Stuart!

I've had the same "issue" with my Mini-E #339, too!

When that happens to me and Mini-E #339, I just fall back to my previously-learned procedures for "hill starting" in a manual transmission car.

If 339 starts rolling backwards after a stop, I immediately step on the foot brake again (with my left foot, if needed).

Then, I use my right hand to lift the HAND brake BUT with the button held down with my right thumb.

With the hand brake AND foot brake engaged, I then lift my foot off the FOOT brake. (The car should still hold on the hill....)

I then step on the accelerator... until I feel 339's electric motor just start to build up torque... just as if she just "wants to go"... then slowly lower the hand brake.

Most times, she'll move forward -- without rolling backwards at all!

It takes practice. But you can do it. (And it's a LOT easier to do on a MINI-E, since it doesn't have a clutch, manual gear shift and the worry of an engine stall out!!!)

Hope that helps and hope everything else is going well with your Mini-E!

Happy motoring!

Welcome to the club Stuart! I've had it happen three times now. The first time can be a bit unsettling, but as long as you know what to do, it's no problem. I spoke to Marian at Mini about it and they are currently working on a fix. I've started a blog also and have linked your blog to mine. It's at: http://minie250.blogspot.com/
Keep up the good work!

Stuart,

I'll be shipping shirts staring to morrow, not like I had planed for last Tuesday. A snag with my shirt supplier held me up.

This is a little late - sorry - but there are web sites and local sign shops that will custom make vinyl graphics for you that say whatever you want. Windshield banners are one option perhaps - "I’m Driving an Electric Car" in yellow vinyl across the top of your windshield maybe? Here's one site that a friend used for this purpose: http://www.edecals.com

My pleasure. It's been a lot of fun and have met a lot of really kool "E"'rs like Peder, Mark, David and Ed.

Shirts should be coming out very soon, maybe even by next weeks end, glad you got you badges.

Well, if they really do make you give it back, we are doing a series of videos on how to convert a 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman yourself at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MkbuU5itlo

I think we're using a better motor/controller, and a better battery system, as well as having a bit more room in the Clubman version.

We're illustrating pretty much every nut and bolt that has to be moved in this series, as well as the specific parts we use to do the conversion.

So you do have an option.

I only get to use it an extra month if I pay for it. However, judging by the first month I'd do anything to keep driving it a year from now. BTW, I'm also an N-Scaler. I just find that if I try to ride them they break.
